GozEmber (Original Design)

Debuted: Halloween 2009

Awards: N/A

My daughter Ember has been nicknamed GozEmber since she learned how to roar. Since then, it was an on-going joke that I should make her a costume to match her roar... and this year I did!

 How I Made It

Made of polar fleece, the entire costume is warm, fuzzy, and comfortable. I stitched ribbing into the chest and under the tail for a more Godzilla look. The inside of the ears and hands also contained a patch of yellow for definition. The spikes were hand-sewn in a staggered pattern along the backside of the head, body, and tail. The boot covers fit over her sneakers and I added toenails to match the spikes. The pink ribbon on her hat was added for cuteness (and so people knew she was a girl) and the hat itself tied under her chin with a piece of black ribbon. Her tail was lightly stuffed with batting and hand-sewn in place... it actually wagged a bit as she walked from house to house!

The neighbors loved it, as she trick or treated around. She got lots of candy and I got lots of praise for the construction of the kid-friendly cosplay. The polar fleece also helped keep her warm without the need of a jacket, which was a nice touch.
