When I was a child, I used to LOVE watching Legends of the Hidden Temple and cheer for the contestants as they barely escaped from the Mayan Temple Guards to find the pieces of the Silver Monkey and unlock the doors to retrieve the missing artifact and get a prize! It was always a game show that I wanted to participate in.
How I Made It
While at Dragon*Con, my friends had planned a giant group to participate in this cosplay and one of the members bowed out. They asked me to fill in and I was in! A t-shirt, some khaki shorts, a yellow helmet, and comfy sneakers was all it took to make this group happen.
We were all comfy as we walked around the convention getting lots of high-fives and recognition. We were even stopped by Felicia Day as she freaked out over our outfits and took an awesome group picture of us! One of my favorite cosplay memories came about while wearing this cosplay too. A smaller group of us were walking through the food court of the local mall deciding on what we wanted for dinner, when one table spotted us and started cheering for us. We cheered right back at them, and then suddenly the ENTIRE food court was cheering and clapping and screaming for us! It was a moment I will never forget--definitely made me feel like a celebrity for a few minutes!
Just goes to show that not all cosplay have to be intricate in order for others to appreciate the final outcome.
